The southern area of the Costa Blanca stretches from Alicante to Pilar de la Horadada and takes in the Blue Flag beaches of Guardamar, La Mata, Torrrevieja, Cabo Roig and Campoamor. It also includes an area known as Vega Bajo which stretches inland to the Sierra Crevillente and Sierra Callosa.

The towns of Rojales, Algorfa, Almaradi and Callosa are very close to the beaches (all within a fifteen minute drive) and are generally populated by Europeans and Scandinavians as well as the local Spanish.
These areas are particularly good for people looking to retire to Spain as they are set within a "micro climate" which is considered the most healthy place in the world to live. Tourism flourishes here and people visit throughout the year enjoying the 320 days of sunshine and temperatures of up to 44 degrees in mid summer.

The influences in this area are Moorish and every little town and village provide fiestas during the year where all are welcome to enjoy the good wine and food of the region. You can get totally "drunk" on culture and all sorts of sporting activities here. Churches and museums everywhere and so many activities from golf (where we have some of the best courses in Europe), fishing, boating and sailing, go carting and many more.
There are many good restaurants serving food from all over the world. The supermarkets have an array of fresh meats, fish and shell fish and there are markets on every day of the week where you can buy local produce, fruit and vegetables.
